About Villa Dejama ...
In the laid-back resort of Sanur, this beautiful Balinese-style villa sleeps 8 people in four double en suite bedrooms, two of which are in a separate guest house.
It is on a quiet road that runs parallel to the beach, and it’s less than 1km to shops and small supermarkets, but there are restaurants, fresh fruit stalls and beauty salons within 100m of the door.
During your stay the villa will be cleaned daily (except Sundays), linen and towels are changed every three days. A security man is on duty every night, the gardener visits three times a week and the pool man twice a week - all of this is included in the rental price, so all you have to worry about is enjoying yourselves.
The property ...
Open the intricately carved wooden gate and step into the beautiful grounds of Villa Dejama - tranquil terraces and lawns, furnished with sunbeds and sofas, an outdoor shower and the refreshing pool, which has a shallow side for cooling off and a deeper side for swimming. There’s even an outdoor living room, and a dining table where you can enjoy a meal in the shade of an awning.
At night, the pool is illuminated, so the fun doesn’t need to stop when the sun goes down. The grounds are totally enclosed and not overlooked, so your privacy is assured.
The accommodation is in two buildings - the main house and the guest house, both of which are on one level. In the main house you will find a spacious salon which is traditionally furnished with two daybeds, and a television which has local and international channels. The fully-equipped kitchen is open to the garden - the large dining table is the perfect place to relax and socialise with friends.
As the sun goes down, move into the outdoor living room, or dip your toes in the pool to cool off…
There are two bedrooms in the house, one of which opens on to the pool, and both of which are air-conditioned, spacious and airy. There are two more bedrooms in the guesthouse - again en suite and air-conditioned. It’s the perfect arrangement for two families who appreciate their own space but enjoy eating and socialising together.
Both buildings are beautifully decorated with local art, pottery and hand-carved furniture.
About the area ...
Enjoy the easy laid-back pace of life in Sanur as you laze around the pool or take a stroll along the 5km sandy beach at Sanur. An off-shore reef means the beach is protected from large waves and currents, and the length of it means it is rarely crowded. It’s lined with a mixture of lush resorts, elegant villas, colourful fishing boats, shops, bars and restaurants so there is plenty to discover.
The area has plenty to offer - visit the orchid gardens or check out the Museum Le Mayeur, the former home of a French artist who married a Balinese dancer. There’s a turtle conservation centre on nearby Serangan Island, and more sporty guests can enjoy snorkelling, canoeing and kite-surfing on Sindhu beach.
If you are visiting in July, be sure to see the Bali kite festival on Padang Galak beach, just 2km north of Sanur, when hundreds of kites fill the skies.
Golfers can relax at the nine-hole Bali Beach course, or why not treat yourself to some pampering - most of the large hotels offer treatments or there are plenty of options on Jalan Tamblingan. For a real chill-out, try a yoga class on the beach!
Younger visitors will love Waterbom water park in Kuta, about half an hour’s drive from Sanur, or a visit to Bali Safari and Marine park - shuttle buses leave Sanur for the park every morning.
Adventurers can try white-water rafting on the Ayung or Telaga Waju rivers - various packages are available, some of which include pick-up in Sanur.
If you want to explore a little further afield, go island hopping on a super-fast catamaran and visit Lombok or the beautiful Gili islands, or try Lembongan island, which is a haven for divers and snorkelers.
It’s less than an hour’s drive to the temple and palace at Ubud. The complex was rebuilt after an earthquake in 1917 and the royal family still lives here. Stroll around and discover stone carvings, banyan trees and maybe even catch a dance performance.
The Balinese capital, Denpasar, is less than 30 minutes away. Parts of it may seem sprawling and chaotic, but there are also tree-lined avenues and superb authentic restaurants to enjoy.
The airport is just 32 minutes drive from Sanur.

The OVO Network Review
“A hidden gem of a place to stay”
We visited Villa Dejama late November, and had a fabulous holiday there!
The 4 bedroom 4 bathroom, single storey villa is about a thirty minute drive away from busy Denpasar in the south of Bali, close to Sanur. The transfer from Denpasar airport was organised in advance with the driver recommended in the guest info pack.
Set within a private compound, the tropical gardens are colourful and well laid out. There are several different outdoor seating and eating areas around three sides of the main house, so that guests can relax and chat in comfort in between the main house, the guest house and the pool.
The stylish air-conditioned living room is a large, serene, comfortable and beautifully decorated space. The heart of the house during our stay was the kitchen, which is open to the garden and the outdoor lounge. It is really well equipped with a roof fan, water cooler, a huge fridge and everything needed for preparing meals at the villa, or eating food ordered from the restaurants suggested in the guest pack. If you prefer eating out there are numerous restaurants just a short walk away along the beach, in Sanur, or further afield. There are so many to try and a variety of cuisines, there's something for everyone.
Each bedrooms is different in style and colour, with a lots of natural matrials and local art. All of the bedrooms are air conditioned, have comfortable large beds and ensuite bathrooms: one has a bath with overbath shower, the others have showers, all have handbasins and wc's.
The staff at the villa include a housekeeper, a gardener and a night watchman, it's easy to organise day trips out, or visits to Lombok or the Gili Islands, laundry services, even fresh fruit delivery for your morning smoothie! The team are proud of their heritage and their islands and happy to share information if requested about customs, culture, markets, traditions, places of interest etc.

... traditional Balinese style, with a bit of a French twist - the best of both cultures!
“We visited Bali for the first time a little more than 20 years ago. We have seen it grow and change and have had some wonderful holidays there with our family over the years. Now that our babies are all grown up and travelling or working across the world, we have decided to spend more time in Indonesia to experience a different pace and style of life full time.
We were looking for a base which would be closer to our loved ones and friends on the other side of the globe. On our first visit to Villa Dejama, we loved the Javanese style street door! It looked promising and it made us wonder what kind of treasures we would find hiding behind it. We were thrilled to discover this old Balinese villa, the gardens and pool, and immediately knew we could have some amazing quality time here.
Following a few alterations, and after freshening the place up, we moved in and have greatly enjoyed being there with friends and family ever since. As you will discover it's traditional Balinese style, with a bit of a French twist - the best of both cultures!
The villa is very close to the beach, a short distance away from the harbour for island hopping, and close to the airport so no drama there to get home quickly. As we travel often, we have decided to let the villa when we are away. We hope you will enjoy your stay there and be delighted and enlightened by the rich Balinese culture. Have a fabulous time in Villa Dejama!

We stayed 3 fantastic nights at Villa Dejama. We found the Villa to be everything it advertises itself to be. The location was central enough to have easy access to central Sanur but without being too close to the action. The beach was just a stroll away with access to many restaurants and watersports. The villa itself was fantastic with spacious well appointed bedrooms and a great areas for relaxation, either laying around the pool or under the gazebo area next to the kitchen/dining space. It easily accommodated our 2 families.
